We’ll check out this marijuana strain’s THC level, flavor, effects, and more in our Mac 1 review.

Mac 1 Strain Review: Genetics

Cannabis breeder Capulator created Mac 1 by crossing the strains Miracle and Alien Cookies, meaning that this strain’s name is actually an acronym (“MAC” means “Miracle Alien Cookies”). Through its limeage, Mac 1 is actually a member of nearly every famous family of strains out there! It’s related not only to Cookies, but also the Kush family. You’ll even find Durban Poison and Chemdawg in there if you go back far enough. Long story short, Mac 1 may be considered by some to be strain royalty.

Is Mac 1 Indica or Sativa?

Given its complex lineage, you’d imagine that Mac 1 has some strange combination of indica and sativa in its DNA. But that’s actually not the case! In fact, Mac 1 is a perfectly-balanced 50/50 hybrid. That’s a serious testament to Capulator’s breeding prowess.

Strain Appearance and Aroma

Thanks to its unique mix of genetics, Mac 1 has some incredible flavors that make it stand out from the crowd. If you’re a fan of Sour Diesel, you’ll love the aroma of fuel that emanates from the bright lime-green flowers, glistening with a shiny coat of trichomes. A pungent mix of sour and spicy also brings Sour Diesel to mind, rounded out with herbal notes. Once you combust or vaporize this strain, you may notice citrus flavors, like lemon or orange, rolling lazily across your taste buds.

Effects: How Does Mac #1 Make You Feel?

As a true hybrid, Mac 1 has a variety of effects typical of many cannabis strains. At first, you’ll likely notice its sativa effects, with a cerebral and uplifting rush of euphoria. It may even help spark motivation and inspire creativity. As its effects progress, you’ll eventually feel more relaxed and down-to-earth. Mac 1 is the kind of strain you definitely want to avoid before bedtime, since it may keep you awake. Mac 1 is a strain that enjoys a fairly high THC level, usually between 22% and 25%, which helps power its effects.

Medical Patients and The Mac Marijuana Strain

Medical patients may be able to benefit from Mac 1, too. Many patients seek out cannabis to help them reduce pain and discomfort, such as headaches, muscle soreness or menstrual cramps, for example. Patients also look to cannabis for help with easing inflammation and to help combat stress and boost mood in the short term.

Mac 1 Strain Grow Info

Mac 1 can be difficult to grow, so it might be better for novices to avoid this strain and start with something easier. If you’re a more experienced gardner and you’re ready for a challenge, Mac 1 is definitely a fun strain to grow. Since it grows fairly slowly, make sure you leave it in the vegetative phase until it’s at least a foot tall.

Size and Flowering Time

As a hybrid, Mac 1 has growing traits of both an indica and sativa. One of those traits is its sativa-like flowering time, which maxes out at about 10 weeks when growing indoors. Outdoor growers can leave this plant until either mid or late October. As a result of the sativa half of its genetics, Mac 1 grows fairly tall. That means you’ll probably want to use some kind of plant training method if you’re growing indoors. The Sea of Green (SOG) method is a great choice here. Outside, it can grow up to eight feet tall.

Yield

Mac 1 features a moderate yield: more than the average sativa, but less than an indica. If you’re growing indoors, expect between three and six ounces per square meter of canopy space. Outdoor growers will really benefit from this strain though, as a single plant can sometimes yield nearly 20 ounces of flower.
