The Soap Strain: A Fresh & Clean, High Potency Hybrid

Given that we’re talking about cannabis strains, it follows that some of them end up with pretty strange sounding names—ever heard of Poddy Mouth, Moonbow, Flying Bobo, or—one of our personal favorites—Cheetah Piss?

Another standout is “The Soap” strain. True to its floral, piney, and minty aromas, it may remind some of hand soap, but beyond those squeaky-clean scents, this sativa-leaning hybrid has an uncanny ability to impart clear-headed, focused effects to some consumers while turning down the dial on stress and boosting mood.

Intrigued? You’re in the right place. Find out everything there is to know about The Soap before loading up your stashbox with this fresh cultivar, including:

  • What are The Soap’s origin and genetics?
  • How strong is The Soap?
  • What does The Soap strain feel like?

…and much more! Ready to wash your troubles away? Let’s get rolling!

Strain Origins and Genetics

A collaboration between Gilbert Anthony Milam Jr. (aka “Berner” of the legendary Cookies brand) and JBeezy of Seed Junky Genetics, The Soap certainly doesn’t lack street cred. A cross between Animal Mints and Kush Mints, The Soap is a sensory delight, with those aforementioned floral, minty, and piney aromas just itching to waft out of the bag. Plus, at an average THC level of 24%, it’s got the juice and then some.

Is The Soap Strain Sativa or Indica?

First things first: Do the terms “indica” and “sativa” still matter in modern cannabis? While many botanists and cultivators feel the distinction between the two main styles of cannabis is no longer accurate, we still use them at Mission for a simple reason: They help our customers predict the general effects of any given strain. As we’re sure you know, being able to predict how different strains make you feel and how they can potentially address specific symptoms and conditions can lead to better, more useful, and more enjoyable outcomes.

That said, The Soap is a sativa-dominant hybrid, with the sativa side tending to be quite fully expressed to most consumers. Beloved for their ability to impart clear-eyed focus and creative spark, sativa strains and sativa-leaning hybrids are the typical go-getters of the cannabis world. Indicas and indica-leaning hybrids, by contrast, are known for imparting relaxing body-centered effects. As for The Soaps parent strains, here are where it gets its unique hybrid genetics:

Animal Mints

An evenly balanced hybrid, Animal Mints is believed to come from a cross of Animal Cookies and SinMint Cookies. This places Animal Mints firmly in the illustrious Cookies family of strains—arguably the most famous genetic line in all of cannabis. Regardless of its origins, this potent strain may impart a powerful, mint-scented high that can be just the thing for a good night’s sleep.

Kush Mints

A combination of the aforementioned Animal Mints and Bubba Kush, this balanced hybrid may deliver a notably euphoric and balanced high. The flavor profile is no less memorable, with minty and cookie-like aromas backed by strong whiffs of fuel and pine resin. With an average THC level of 28%, it’s definitely a strain to be approached with care.

How Strong is The Soap Strain?

While it’s not a record-breaker like Mendo Breath, The Soap is still plenty potent, usually testing in the 24% THC range and sometimes in even higher THC brackets. So, if it’s your first time trying The Soap strain, just remember the golden rule: start low and go slow!

How Strong is The Soap Strain?

The Soap also contains around 1% CBG, a lesser-known cannabinoid with some very intriguing properties. Some studies suggest it acts as a non-intoxicating stress reliever, while others point to its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, making CBG a compound you’ll probably be hearing a lot more about in the future.

Strain Impressions: Appearance, Flavor, Aroma

Along with that bewitching aroma, the appearance of The Soap is quite something to behold—expect to see dense, tightly packed flowers in hues of bright lime green. The trichomes, the source of the plant’s potent cannabinoids and terpenes, appear in this strain as a dense carpet of amber crystals. Completing the picture are thickets of fire-orange pistils, the female cannabis plant’s reproductive organs.

The terpenes, of course, are the source of The Soap’s characteristic flavors and aromas, and those memorably floral, minty, and piney notes come courtesy of four major terpenes:

With these terpenes combined, The Soap has become a true standout for flavor-chasers all over the cannabis world.

The Soap Strain Experience: What to Expect

With descriptors such as “energizing,” “focused,” and even “aroused,” you’d be forgiven for thinking The Soap strain was a pure sativa. But while all these effects hold true for many consumers, the fact is that The Soap is a hybrid strain with an indica side—many who try it are impressed by the relaxing but not sedative body sensations that make it so special.

The Soap strain effects make it popular with medical cannabis patients. As with many sativas and sativa-leaning hybrids, those strong mental effects can work wonders on nagging symptoms such as stress, anxiety, depression, and more. As for chronic pain and inflammation, some find that The Soap cleanses them of these complaints, while others turn to more indica-forward strains for their pain-fighting effects.

Growing The Soap Strain: What to Know

Like many unique strains, there’s not a ton of published data about growing The Soap weed strain. Flowering time is estimated to be in the 8 – 9 week range, but needless to say, your experience may vary depending on the specific grow conditions. On the upside, those with experience claim The Soap is relatively easy to grow.

Some sources report that The Soap prefers warm, humid conditions. As always, practicing proper pruning and trimming techniques is a good idea to maximize flower production. Those experienced with growing this particular cultivar suggest indoor yields of 1.7 oz – 4.2 oz for autoflower and 8 oz – 24 oz for photoperiod, with outdoor plants potentially yielding 1.7 oz -7 oz for autoflower and 16 oz – 64 oz for photoperiod grows.
